The SGM Scholarship
The Shashi Gupta Memorial Scholarship (SGMS)
In 2011, Ambassador Ranjit Gupta (1964 batch) and his daughters Anjali and Aarti, approached EASA with a request to set up a Scholarship fund in memory of his wife and their mother, Shashi Gupta. They wanted the scholarship to support young girls from MEA families for their further education, with the aim of making them self-sufficient and career-oriented.
Shashi had always been a keen member of EASA and they felt this was the best way to honour her memory. They wanted to donate a sum of 15 lakhs over a period of 10 years.
A committee was set up, comprising ten members, including Ambassador Gupta, Anjali and Aarti, Ambassador Vinod Khanna, and EASA committee members. Ms. Brinda Dubey was asked to co-ordinate the scholarship.
